Complete rainwater goods replacement

The Project Details

This beautiful country house in the Sussex countryside is understood to have been built around 1830, designed by the architect James Lewis (who also designed Lavington House and what is today, the Imperial War Museum, London), and is a beautiful example of a Georgian country house of quality as reflected by its Grade ll* listing.

Careful consideration had to be taken in choosing the rainwater goods for this property, the cast iron fitted had come to the end of its useful life, it was undersized for the roof area it had to accommodate, the system that suited was a deepflow cast aluminium, this only has a width of 114mm but a depth of 75mm, this has a large capacity that could cope with the deluges experienced more frequently, without changing the look of the property, the rainwater pipes installed were 76mm round cast collar, these complemented the gutter system and matched the period of the property.

The Coach House’s gutters were in a similar condition to the main house, these were changed to a standard beaded half round cast aluminium gutter with 63mm round cast collar rainwater pipes.

Cast aluminium has an identical look to cast iron without the problem of the extreme weight, with maintenance this product has a life expectancy of 40 years plus.
