The Story: Cast Aluminium Guttering Installed on Listed House in Sturminster Newton

County Gutters has recently completed a specialist rainwater installation on a listed house in Sturminster Newton, fitting cast aluminium guttering supported by bespoke rise-and-fall brackets.

When working on a listed property, the appearance and detailing of a new rainwater system are particularly important. The installation needs to provide reliable modern performance while remaining sympathetic to the architectural character and traditional features of the building.

Cast aluminium guttering was selected for this project, providing the classic appearance associated with traditional cast rainwater goods while offering the practical advantages of aluminium, including durability, corrosion resistance and relatively low maintenance requirements.

A key feature of the installation was the use of bespoke rise-and-fall brackets. Traditionally used to support guttering while allowing its height and fall to be adjusted, these brackets provided an appropriate period-style detail for the property. The bespoke brackets also allowed the guttering to be carefully positioned to create an effective fall for rainwater drainage.

The finished system sits naturally alongside the historic exterior of the house, providing an effective rainwater solution without introducing detailing that would look out of place on a property of this age and character.

This Sturminster Newton installation is another example of County Gutters' experience in providing bespoke aluminium rainwater systems for listed buildings, period homes and heritage properties where careful attention to traditional detailing is essential.
