At Amberley Castle in Sussex, County Gutters was entrusted with the replacement of the aging cast iron guttering, ensuring the historic structure maintained its timeless appearance while benefiting from modern materials. To achieve this, 150mm PPC aluminium half-round gutters were installed, carefully chosen for their durability and traditional aesthetic. The guttering was securely mounted using rise and fall spikes, allowing for flexibility while maintaining a classic, heritage-style installation. This system ensures efficient rainwater management while seamlessly blending with the castle’s historic stonework.
The entire installation was finished in RAL 6019 matt, a subtle yet elegant shade that complements the castle’s architectural character. By using PPC aluminium instead of cast iron, the system provides superior longevity, reduced maintenance, and improved resistance to corrosion, essential for a structure exposed to the elements.
