The Story: County Gutters Install Bespoke Aluminium Solution at St. Thomas of Canterbury Church, Exeter
In a recent project in Exeter, County Gutters provided a bespoke solution to replace the corroded cast iron guttering at the historic St. Thomas of Canterbury church, which had been converted into residential homes in 2008. After nearly 100 years of service, the original cast iron radius gutter had started to show signs of significant corrosion, prompting the need for a more durable and modern alternative.
The selected replacement was a 125mm PPC aluminium box gutter in RAL 7015M (Slate Grey), a colour popular for its modern, understated aesthetic. Aluminium was chosen for its exceptional resistance to corrosion and longevity, especially crucial for this historical building. To ensure the new gutter system was a perfect fit, a custom template was made to accommodate the radius of the building's roofline. Additionally, a specially fabricated transition piece was created to integrate the new gutter with the internal structure, preserving both the functionality and visual integrity of the building.
This bespoke solution not only addressed the long-term needs of the building's drainage system but also ensured that the property's historical charm was maintained, blending modern durability with traditional design.
